The events listed below are those which we think may be of interest to owners of folding and separable cycles. If you require more information on any of the events, please contact the individual organisers.

Warning
Cycling can be dangerous (so is walking, travelling by motor cycle, car, bus, train, boat and plane, and of course breathing and living!) and participants take part in the events listed here and elsewhere entirely at their own risk. The organisers, The Folding Society and its Officers cannot be held responsible for anything befalling anyone during or on the way to or from the events listed here or anywhere else.

June 21st London Strida Ride

There is going to be a London meeting of riders on Saturday 21st June. It will be in Dulwich Park, London SE22. Meet at 10:00 by the tea rooms for a ride to Crystal Palace park. This will be, as you would guess, at a leisurely pace. All Strida riders welcome.

July 4th - 11th 2008 Cyclefeast

This year's Cyclefest is specifically aimed at recumbent tricycles and their owners. However, do not despair if you don't own one of the iteresting machines, as some tricumbents will be available for hire for the event. For more information on Cylcefeast, and how you can hire a machine, pl,ease see the Cyclefeast web site.

September 5th - 7th 2008 Moulton Bicycle Club Bradford on Avon Weekend

Moulton Owners Club weekend in Bradford on Avon.  Note that you must be a MOC member to attend - details here.

Monthly Rides

Origami Rides
These are rides particularly intended for (though not restricted to) the owners of folding and separable cycles. The rides are mostly, though not all, in the West Midlands. The meeting point varies from month to month, with about one third of them being at the Meriden Tea Rooms (Meriden is classified as the geographic centre of England, and is easily accessible by rail and road). Generally, the start point is easily accessible by public transport. Meetings usually start from 10.30am for an 11.00am start. Distance covered varies, typically from 10 miles to 25 miles, depending on the weather and the preferences of those present, though just occasionally we go a shorter or longer distance. Second Saturday of every month (unless this clashes with Bank Holidays, the Moulton BoA weekend, or other major event). Origami Phoenix has its own web page! Please check the Origami web pages before attending an event, as the venue and timing varies.

Bristol Dock Ride
Please note that this replaces the Mud Dock Ride, starting from a new location.
Folder enthusiasts usually meet informally on the first Saturday of the month at The Framing Factory on the dockside in Bristol from about 10.30am onwards. The Framing Factory is just beyond the Industrial Museum, and there is a small car park between the two sites. For more information about the Framing Factory, including a location map, please see http://www.artwarehouse.co.uk/bristol.htm.

Swindon Smallwheels
Third Saturday of each month. Meet 10:00am onwards at Food Hall, Designer Outlet Village (10 minute walk from Swindon Station - exit station foot-tunnel, turn right following signposts for the Designer Outlet Village) for coffee and a chat, 11:30 for a cycle-path ride and pub lunch.

Other events of interest :

Folder Rides in Germany
Rainer Zenz reports:
"We have renamed the "Bromptonauten-Tour"; it's now "Origami-Tour" (as a bow to the original), and we are cooperating with the "Birdy-Freunde". There is a main website now http://www.origamitour.de and meanwhile more or less frequent tours are organized in Berlin, Germersheim (Spezi), Hanau, Munich, Rüdesheim, Sindelfingen and Zurich."

Moulton Bicycle Club events
Events are held throughout the year for Moulton owners - see the Moulton Bicycle Club events web page for more information on these. Generally you should come to these on a Moulton, but sometimes the organisers will tolerate other makes - as a matter of courtesy, please check with them before hand if you want to attend on some other make of bicycle. Please DO NOT go to the Bradford on Avon annual weekend on a non-Moulton (children excepted) - this event is held at Dr Moulton's home, and it would be extremely discourteous to arrive on a non-Moulton!

If you are organising, or know of, a Folder Friendly (*) event of potential interest to other readers of these pages, please contact us.

*Folder Friendly - so long as it isn't a private event, or one with some form of restricted eligibility, folders can manage anything other bikes can. It helps though for those not living in the immediate vicinity if public transport is available.
